Mini Soccer 2009 - 2010 Season
Introduction to the World’s Greatest Game
-
Boys and Girls are now introduced to the game on
smaller fields, with team practices, game
situations, and fewer players in an attempt to
provide a quality learning experiences for all
young players at every level.
WSC Mini Academy
will run the most appropriate and fun
introduction to Soccer.
The main theme through out Mini Soccer is to
meet the needs of children using the new
National Game structure: All available research
and observation shows that children will have
more fun and learn more playing the game with
smaller teams and modified rules. If children
are to enjoy and take part in soccer they need
to:
-
Feel success
-
Take an active part in the game
-
Learn to play as a team
-
Understand the laws and rules of the game
-
Develop soccer skills
-
Be able to take part whatever their ability
-
Develop fitness
Mini Soccer is a children’s game they can actually
play rather than struggling to understand a game
created for Adults.
-
U6 to U7
- Younger children perform better in smaller
teams with simple laws and rules.
-
U8 to U10
- Older children have to adapt to bigger teams,
follow laws and rules and be able to understand
how to play organized Soccer.
What can Children Expect from Adults?
Remember that children are often easily led,
anxious to please and prone to over enthusiasm
so plenty of cheer and positive attitude is
needed for younger players. Children find it
harder to understand negative instructions and
easier to understand positive reinforcement and
this can frequently mean playing down the result
and playing up performance. This reduces the
child’s anxiety and decreases their worry about
failing. Remember, children don’t go out and
play to try to disappoint their parents.
Mistakes are necessary for learning and
development of all players. We need to make sure
that all players understand and follow the rules
and laws of soccer.
We must take time to explain or resolve all
children's questions and concerns and bring a
positive attitude among
them.
Interference from the sidelines
WSC Mini Academy will not accept any abuse to any of the volunteers or coaches.
What can be done in case a parent has a comment or
disagreement?
Report the matter to your child’s head coach and if
this doesn’t satisfy the parent’s need, inform your
Mini Soccer Coordinator.
Parents or family members need to set an example for
all the kids involved with the program.
Parents or Family members need to understand that
Whalley Mini Soccer is not a Day Care Center
Parental
responsibilities continue for the full length of
practice or game.
Coaches, Assistant Coaches and all volunteers have
important roles to play in our Mini Soccer.
They must carry out their duties without favor and
they should create a playing environment that is fun
for all.
Mini Soccer Coordinator:
The duties include encouraging fair play, fun and respect for
others, teamwork, and an understanding of the laws
of the game while appreciating the needs of all the
children involved with the program. They also
provide a schedule for games, tournaments and
practice.
The mini program has been developed with a focus on skill
development in a fun environment
